Our approach is one of caution and respect for those most affected by the virus. Whatever is expected of us with regards to health and safety, for ourselves and for others, we will do to the best of our ability.
Our policies are based squarely on those recommended by the provincial governments, as these are the best tool we have for making informed choices based on science and latest information on the areas in which we operate.
Shakti will continue to strive to provide a safe work environment for our team members, clients, and in the communities we work in. We have developed procedures that meet or exceed the Communicable Disease Control Plan (CDCP) for the operations.
Shakti will ensure that hand washing facilities, antiseptic hand cleansers/towelettes or other hygiene items are available for all employees.
Oversight of the Pandemic Preparedness Plan is the responsibility of the Operations Health and Safety Coordinator.
The Operations Health and Safety Coordinator will host monthly drills pertaining to illness prevention, how to avoid spread of disease, and company policies concerning illness.a
When necessary due to illness, staff will be ordered to stay home, they will be given modified duties that they are able to conduct from home and if they need to be isolated somewhere other than their home Shakti will subsidize accommodations.
In the event of an outbreak Shakti will enforce mandatory social distancing and limit gathering sizes in full compliance with all applicable legislation.
It is the responsibility of the Operations Health and Safety Coordinator to ensure that clients and customers are aware of Shakti's pandemic policies. In the event of an outbreak the Coordinator will inform clientele of Shakti's procedures and ensure that they are reviewed before work commences.
We will continue to provide all staff, workers, and visitors education on hygiene protocols, respiratory etiquette, and the Communicable Disease Control Plan (CDCP) for the operations and a record shall be maintained of all persons that complete this training.
All equipment and/or working surfaces shall be cleaned DAILY in the event of a health crisis and at least twice a week during regular periods of work.
Shakti will follow Provincial guidelines and recommendations and customers requests by reinstating measures as required to continue to provide a safe work environment for our team members, clients, and in the communities we work in throughout the year. Our continued approach is one of caution and respect for those most affected.
Shakti's policy on vaccinations is that it's up to you, you don't have to be vaccinated to work here. However, our work is performed at clients locations and Shakti will amend our vaccine requirement to comply with our clients requirements. This may mean that vaccines may be required to work at certain sites, locations or in at higher risk or isolated communities. We strongly recommend that all staff get obtain appropriate immunizations.
Shakti's pandemic policies are reviewed by external auditors and subject to internal scrutiny by elected health and safety reps.
Shakti will halt work operations if a large proportion of the workforce becomes ill, this call will be made by the the entire Operations team in close consultation with the Health and Safety Coordinator and elected safety representatives.
Subsequent to any pandemic event a review of Shakti's policies will be conducted by Operations, including the Heath and Safety Coordinator, and feedback from elected health and safety representatives will be taken into account in the review. Findings will be published on B-safe and available to all staff.
Internal communication during a pandemic event will be issued to all staff via email and the Signal app, communications will also be issued specifically and individually to each supervisor.
